Special Visit from Priory Woods School

On Friday 21 November K Home International welcomed a group of students from Priory Woods School.Priory Woods School and Arts College is an all age community special school situated in East Middlesbrough. The school provides a quality, inclusive education for pupils with severe learning difficulties and those with profound and multiple needs.KHI is a supporter of Priory Woods School, in 2014 Ken Home received the NEPIC Outstanding Contribution Award 2013. As part of the NEPIC award Ken Home received a cheque for £2,000 and Priory Woods School was the nominated school to receive the award.The students have been taking part in the Young Enterprise Scheme which involves setting up a business which they have called The Bizz.When they arrived they were taken the Icon Meeting room, which had been converted to the The Bizz board room for the day, to have a brief introduction to KHI followed by the inaugural board meeting of The Bizz. This was followed by a short tour of the office, then it was back to the board room for the team to present their products for sale. The Bizz team had designed, made and sold their products to gain an understanding of how a business operates.Employees were invited to view and buy the items for sale, the Bizz team had decided that their company will be a social enterprise, and as such the money they made will be donated to their chosen charities.Andrew Home CEO of K Home International said “It was a pleasure to have the budding entrepreneurs, they created a great atmosphere in the office. I would like to pass on my thanks to the Staff and Students at Priory Woods for joining us for the day”.Over £200 worth of goods were sold on the day and all proceeds will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis.
