Patrick shines at the prestigious NEPIC Annual Awards 2016!
2016 APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR WINNER: Patrick Shepherd of K Home International presented with his award by Malcolm Horne from Lotte Chemical UK
Patrick Shepherd of K Home International Limited (KHI) has won the Supply Chain Apprentice of the Year Award at the NEPIC Annual Awards 2016, held at Hardwick Hall Hotel on Friday 15th January. He was presented his award by Malcolm Horne of Lotte Chemical UK (LCUK), sponsors of the award.Patrick's enthusiasm and inquisitive mind enabled him to stand out from day one when he joined Thornaby based K Home International, as a young apprentice. Four years on and with an apprenticeship under his belt that was completed ahead of schedule, Patrick has become a valuable member of the firm's mechanical engineering department.While serving his apprenticeship KHI, Patrick spent time in each engineering department learning all different aspects of design engineering before deciding to make mechanical engineering his chosen career path.His training has also taken him outside of the region during the construction of a new polymer processing plant in Lancashire. There he spent three months working on the project, gaining vital site experience.His commitment to his academic development continues and he is currently studying towards a BEng Honours Degree in Mechanical. Furthermore, Patrick is a keen ambassador for industry and alongside his work and studies, he commits time to support the STEMNet programme to visiting schools to encourage pupils into STEM-based careers with the hope of inspiring the next generation of engineers."The award is a testament to Patrick's dedication to his studies and focus he has on his career, we are all proud of his achievements" said Amanda McMahon, Manager of Engineering at KHI.Patrick commented on how he felt when he found out the good news "I was truly shocked and overwhelmed when I received a phone call from Felix O'Hare at NEPIC, telling me I had been selected for this award. All those that I have worked alongside at KHI have contributed to my success, and I would like to thank each and every one of them for the knowledge and opportunities that have been made available to me. I'm honoured and very grateful to have been given this award by NEPIC and it makes me very proud of what I do."
